As a kid I remember going to the library every week. I remember the shelves I used to frequent, the smell of the smaller rooms where weekend movies were shown (on a reel to reel projector no less). But one of the things I really remember was at the end of nearly every aisle, on the side of every other set of old wooden shelves were posters. Featuring popular cartoon characters, actors or even just famous covers, these posters were like advertisements for reading. They urged us to pick up even more to read and to dive into the joy of reading. I remember seeing posters with The Pagemaster or Levar Burton, but none as awesome as these classic posters. Maria Popova over at Brain Pickings has compiled a great collection of library posters from a bygone era. Check them out and see if it brings back any great library memories.
